Usually I'm never one to blog. However, I felt it was necessary to talk about the recent events in Boston on Monday afternoon. Growing up in Massachusetts has always been a good time, with so much to do and so little time, my childhood was full of activities that I wish I could go back to everyday. One of my fondest memories was going into Boston to the Science Museum. Walking into the city was something I've never seen before, from the rural suburbs to the fast pace traffic and smell of bakeries all around, it was like switching from the desert to the Amazon Rain forest. It was a great time, and at that point I realized what true appreciation I had for a city rich in history and fun.
This past Monday made me realize that all those memories were behind me now, and the fact of the matter is, nothing is the same. Maybe it's because I'm older now,
but dam, a lot has left me now. Terrorist attacks were not even heard of when I was little (until 9/11) and the fact that their popping up everywhere in the U.S is something that really scares me. One thing I'll never understand with this world is; why so much hate?
Back in the 90's, no one wanted to nuke us, no one was making terror threats or hurt innocent civilians, and now we live in fear because we can't even run a marathon for the good of our city. Hopefully, whoever is responsible for these disgusting acts will be brought to justice and get exactly what they deserve. If and when this person is found, most of use might just roll our eyes and say, "Well that's a relief." But in my eyes, this is changing point for this country.
After 9/11 happened, it made me see that our way of living would shift forever, and now I wonder what is to come next. If family events are being attacked and gunman are shooting up schools, is it too wrong to question whether were at the end of humanity? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, peace and love are way behind us and to get it back, we must look forward to the proper solutions.
My heart goes out to everyone in Boston who was injured or lost a loved one, there is no reason for any of this to happen to any bystanders cheering for a family member. The key thing to remember is that going out in anger is not our way of doing things. However, we will fight back and let the world know that no one messes with the bull, because the horns are going to hurt worse than ever before.
