Social media is something that can either be used for good or bad. Connecting with loved ones, being able to talk to distant relatives or even finding a new friends have made Facebook and Twitter the new "go-to" applications. However, on the other end of it, there are people in the world that use social media for bad posts or derogretory comments. In fact, half of the users on Facebook and Twitter say they see up to at least 15 or more harmful comments towards someone when logged in.
A prime example of this occuring was the recent story of three men who were arrested for making threatning and dishonest comments between both Facebook and Twitter. One of the men made offensive comments about a dead child on Twitter, the second for posting on Facebook that all British soldiers should "go to hell." Finally, the last man had the audacity to post a picture of a burning paper poppy, a rememberance for war dead. In the end two were convicted and third one was jailed. In my opininon, I know that there's such a thing called freedom of speech and that people are entitled to it. However, there's a fine line that cannot be crossed and when you step over the line such as these three, you ought to be punished.
Being in the 21st century has shown us that there are alot of wierd people who like to make their presence known in a negative way. As time passes and the crackdown on people like this, hopefully the normality of socail media can return and none of us have to worry about seeing threatning or disturbing images every time you log onto these sites.
