White Paper Roulette

In the world of social media, it's often important to look at one thing, statistics. Between age, race, gender and household income, every factor going into this can tell us, the main users, who is really ruling the internet these days on social media sites. As I was reading my report, some things stood out to me that I would of never of guessed. For example, according to the report, it said that people between the ages of 55 and over are the dominant users on the internet today. For me, I found this hard to believe, only because I know that I use the internet more than ten times a day and imagining someone as old as my dad work the keyboard is a little strange to me.

Another statistic that stuck out to me the most was on the last page, and it stated that Australia is the number one country using social media. In fact, as if that were not surprising enough, the U.S was ranked #9! To me this is very surprising, only because I figured we were known as a very technological country and very advanced at how we operate with it. However, something that I found to be not surprising had to deal with gender.

Although I am always on my computer using Facebook or Twitter, the report stated the females use more time on the internet than males. This was not surprising at all because growing up with two sisters and one computer made me appreciate my laptop very much. Women have more use with the internet because of online shopping, uploading pictures of their best friends and searching videos of the newest Justin Bieber song. As a guy, I know that using Youtube and Twitter are all I need, which made me believe this report is telling the truth.

Overall, this was a great report that gave me multiple statistics on social media and made me realize that the U.S is not a top place for the internet and that we might have to step up our game if we want to be at the top. However, I believe in the next century, this country will be at the top.
